Meet Alyssa Ridings, LMP
Licensed Massage Practitioner
My name is Alyssa Ridings (previously Baucom) and I am a licensed Massage Therapist in Burien, WA. I have been practicing massage since July 2020 working alongside a Chiropractor treating patients with chronic muscle and nerve pain related to work and sports injuries, auto-accidents, and other medical conditions. My specialties include mostly deep tissue massage techniques with a focus on Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Cupping, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, and Swedish Massage.

I fell in love with massage when I studied the miraculous complexity of structure and function of the human body in Anatomy and Physiology class at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. Along with encounters from very talented massage therapists, I shifted my career pursuits from Occupational Therapy, to Community Health Administration, to Massage Therapy. When I discovered massage therapy there was no doubt in my mind that that this is what I am being called to do.

It is my career and personal goal to use my knowledge and skills to help others with pain management and healing. Chronic pain and injuries are a major obstacle that keeps us from doing what we love and I want to be the one that can restore that movement and reduce or eliminate that pain.
Why Massage Therapy?
It can help with

Acute and Chronic Muscle Pain
Massage helps increase blood circulation to speed up healing, decrease muscle tension, and interrupts the pain cycle by releasing endorphins. Massage also relaxes the nervous system while relieving pressure on the nerves.
Improve Mental Health
Massage calms the the nervous system and relieves feelings of stress and anxiety. During massage the body increases endorphins (feel good hormone) and decreases cortisol (stress hormone).
Massage promotes a feeling of relaxation which decreases stress and lowers blood pressure. Increasing blood circulation and moving stagnant blood through the body, massage helps reduces the pressure of blood on the arterial walls.
Decrease Blood Pressure

Calming Nervous System
Massage is known for activating the "parasympathetic nervous system" which is when your body is calm, relaxed, and is in a healing state. When you are getting a massage your body is able to heal quicker..
Headaches and Migraines
Many headaches are stress and muscle tension related. Massage helps decrease both of those things.
Treat TMJ and other medical diagnoses
Many other diagnoses can be treated and/or managed with massage therapy. For example, there is specific treatments for TMJ, targeting muscles of the neck, jaw, and muscles inside of the mouth.
